Lincoln Helping to Get Alameda County Counted in the 2020 Census

2020 is a huge year for our democracy and Lincoln is on a mission to fight the good fight! Starting on March 12th, the Census kicks off and there will be major efforts around the county and beyond to reach our “hard to count” populations (children, immigrants, unhoused, people of color, large households, low English proficiency, people with disabilities.).

Lincoln is proud to be one of many community based organizations that have received funding from the Alameda County Complete Count Committee to conduct outreach to these communities. We will operate 4 questionnaire assistance centers and host events to help our families complete their census and register to vote. Our staff will be there to answer questions, provide language access, and connect families with additional resources.

Lincoln leadership and staff recently met with Representative DeSaulnier and his staff at our Pittsburg office. The Representative is a leader on immigrant rights and workforce development, as well as a strong advocate for improved behavioral health services for youth. Our direct service staff did a wonderful job sharing stories from our Multidimensional Family Therapy (MDFT) program and we look forward to future opportunities to partner with DeSaulnier’s office.

First Kinship Policy Summit a Success

After nine months of research across the state, we held a summit with our partners at the Alliance for Children’s Rights in early November to convene stakeholders, including attorneys, caregivers, service providers, case managers, and other community leaders, to discuss our policy recommendations to bring greater equity of supports and services to kin caregivers. We have entered phase 2 of the project, which includes publishing our report, strategizing a public awareness campaign, and fact sheets to help support kin caregivers at the time of placement.
